About Non Destructive Testing

Non destructive testing is, as the name suggests, testing without destroying the component under test.

There are a wide variety of non destructive testing (NDT) methods, ranging from the most basic and frequently used visual inspection to the sophisticated range of ultrasonic methods.

The origins of NDT date back as far as the early 1800s when radiography was first introduced into the field of medicine.

Industrial NDT today has many technological links to the medical field with the advances made in medical diagnostics being adapted and applied to industrial methods.

NDT plays a significant part in ensuring safety of industrial plant, aircraft, shipping and the building industry. Most new construction work, be it industrial or commercial, is built to international standards that call for a certain level of quality assurance inspection work.

NDT plays a major role in most inspections to ensure quality of workmanship.
