Resignation of Christine Thomson
Christine announced her retirement from the NZNDTA committee recently after over 10 years involvement with the NZNDTA. Christine has been a tireless supporter of the NZNDTA working hard behind the scenes organizing local and international conferences for NZNDTA members. Her input to the organizing committee for the 12th APCNDT conference in Auckland back in 2006 was a huge factor in the conference success.
Christine's input to NZNDTA will be sorely missed but we wish her well in her new life down south.
New members to the NZNDTA Executive
We welcome two new members to the Executive, Mr Faizal Sahib from Olympus NZ Ltd and Mr Tim Fowler of Pratt & Whitney Engine Center. Both Faizal and Tim bring a wealth of experience in NDT from a practical as well as equipment supplier point of view.
Conference format survey
The NZNDTA will be shortly conducting a survey of members to decide on the future format of NDT conferences to be held here in NZ. A recent NZNDTA Executive management meeting discussed the need to canvass members for their views on whether we should hold separate dedicated NDT conferences, hold joint conferences in conjunction with the Metals Conference or arrange local seminars on topics of interest to members in the regions.
In preparation for this survey please put some thought into what your preferences are.
Proud to be an Australian!
AINDT members Tony Sonneveld and Charlie Pope receive Order of Australia Medal awards for services to NDT in the recent 2010 Australia Day awards.
Exam fee application fee discounts
NZNDTA members are eligible for the discounts on AINDT exam application fees ($200 compared to $350 for non-members). If you have not already renewed your NZNDTA membership, now is the time to do so.
